The government of Uganda represented by The Ministry of Health has contracted ROKO Construction Company Limited to renovate and expand Mulago National Referral hospital – the biggest government Hospital in Uganda so that it can provide advanced medical services and help reduces on referrals out of the country.
    The scope of work will include but not limited to:-
  • Reorganize and expand some of the clinics in the Out Patient Department
  • Expansion of the Accident and Emergency Unit(Casualty) and also expanding the Theatre
  • Including a teaching and research facility
  • Remodelling the main gate to house an information centre
  • Internal roads, parking areas, pedestrian walkways and the storm water drainage systems will be rehabilitated for better functionality.


Barracks Lane Apartments Ltd has awarded a contract to ROKO Construction Limited to construct an Apartment, Hotel & Health Club in Nsambya, Uganda “Proposed Barracks Lane Serviced Apartments (Phase 1)”. The project commenced on 1st October, 2014 and the scheduled duration is thirteen months; completion planned for the end of 2015. This development comprises three separate blocks and is located after Railway Primary School on the immediate right and CTM on the immediate left on Plot No. 20 Barracks Drive, Nsambya. This Apartment, Hotel & Health Club which is all situated along the same lane will add great value to the people of Nsambya by offering the first of its kind in this area, allowing them a greater variety in their accommodation facilities and hotel services. Imperial Botanical Beach hotel Limited has awarded a contract to Roko Construction Limited to construct a shopping Mall and Hotel suites in Entebbe, Uganda “Proposed Hotel Suites and Shopping Mall”. The project commenced on 01 August 2013 and the scheduled duration is sixteen months; completion planned for the end of 014.This development comprises two separate blocks and is located opposite the Imperial Golf view hotel (near the Entebbe Golf Course); on Plot numbers 1B, 3 and 5 Lugard Avenue , Entebbe. This Shopping mall and hotel which has a structure on either side of Karim Hirji Road will add great value to the people of Entebbe by offering the first of its kind in this area, allowing them a greater variety in their shopping and banking needs (and brand new and fresh experience). Signature retail chains, banks, and food courts occupies the ground floor whereas the first, second and third floor compromises of 5-star hotel suites; the best in its class. The mall will be built over five levels with approximately 18,000 square meters (m2) of building space and basement parking for 150 vehicles. Roko construction has been awarded the contract to construct a shopping mall in Bugolobi, to be called 'Bugolobi Village Mall' The mall will be built on a 2.7 acre site at Plot 47A Spring Road, Bugolobi which will house a modern premier shopping & leisure destination with a collection of speciality shops, coffee shop, bank, supermarket and restaurants. The building has unique architecture with Tuscan inspired distinctive elements planned around a well landscaped courtyard with panoramic lift. The mall will be built over four levels with 10,000sm of lettable space and parking for 220 vehicles. Duration of the project will be 15 months with completion at the end of May 2013.

Nyungwe Eco-Lodge, Rwanda wins Internation Award



With the realization of diminishing world ecological endowments, it has become necessary to conserve existing resources for current and future generations. The design and construction of new tourist facilities have embraced the use of environmental friendly, biodegradable materials, whilst maintaining high standards and causing as little disruption to the environment as possible. It is with this in mind that Dubai World Africa Services (Pty) Ltd floated the bids for construction of an ecolodge in Nyungwe national park Rwanda; designed by Keith Design (Pty) Ltd/M2K Architecture (Pty) Ltd. ROKO was the best evaluated bidder in terms of cost, and methodology to achieve the set parameters.

The project comprised construction of 8 forest villas with 26 rooms of different types; staff housing, main hotel building and associated external works. The design incorporated use of timber structure for the buildings, with glazed timber windows and doors and timber slate roofing. Natural tile slate flooring, timber ceilings; with a complete modern electro- mechanical installations, incorporating solar lighting and water heating installations. The external works including road works and swimming pool had to be executed by hand and hand operated equipment to cause as little disturbance to nature as possible.

Indeed this project has made us proud by being awarded BEST INTERNATIONAL NEW SMALL HOTEL CONSTRUCTION & DESIGN by International Hotel Awards in association with Bloomberg Television.


ROKO Construction Ltd. has been awarded a contract to construct a new head office complex for DFCU Limited, one of the leading banking institution in the country. This Buiding together with WORKERS HOUSE , MAPEERA and STANBIC have been rated among the top 10 tallest buildings in Uganda by wikipidia The building to be situated on Plot 26 Kyadondo Road will comprise of several levels of offices and ample parking space for all its occupants. It is to take about 71weeks to complete and once complete will be a magnificient structure in the locality.

MTN Switch

ROKO Construction Ltd. has been awarded a contract to construct a new switch centre for MTN, one of the Telecomunication company in the country. The project located on plot 450 & 451 Kibuga Mutundwe hill is expected to take 9 Month to complete.

TOTAL Project

ROKO Construction Ltd. has been awarded a contract to furbrish offices for Total E and P Uganda Limited. The project located at Levels 5 & 6 Course View Towers, Yusuf Lule Road, Kampala, Uganda is expected to take 18 Month to complete.
The Works comprise of the following: -
The interior fit-out of the 5th and 6th floors of the newly constructed Course View Towers, Yusuf Lule Road, Kampala.
The fit-out consists of new aluminium demountable partitions, some of which are to be sound proof whilst others need to have fire proof ratings; floors are to be finished with either porcelain floor tiles or carpet laid on a new cement and sand screed; ceilings will consist of partly the Landlord’s supplied suspended ceiling tile in a lay-in suspension system; Doors are to be of a high quality imported type finish with a hardwood veneer.
The entire 5th and 6th floors are to have an air-conditioning system to be connected to the existing supply but to be supplemented with additional units; separate air-conditioning units will be introduced into the server room and the power room and
A new fresh air system with an extraction system is to be installed at each level.

Rwenzori Towers

ROKO Construction Ltd. has been awarded a contract to construct a modern commercial complex for Pine Investment, a private Limited Liability Company owned by Ugandans. The project is located on plot 4 & 6 Nakasero road, Kampala. The project is also co-funded by International Finance Corporation (IFC), a department of World Bank and DEG- a funding body of the Federal Republic of Germany. The development is the first Private Sector building construction project that DEG has agreed to fund in Africa and also IFC has also agreed to fund for over five years.

The complex will provide approximately 12,000 SM of office accommodation and 3,000 sqm of retail space arranged around a central courtyard with landscaping and water features. This development will form the third element of the existing Rwenzori commercial developments and the design will integrate with and benefit the existing development by retaining the traditional theme of the existing buildings, but with a more contemporary design. It will create over 400 car parking bays arranged on three levels and this will greatly improve the parking ratio to the existing buildings and also provide more space for both the Rwenzori Complex and the general public thus alleviating the pressure on parking.

Serena Hotel Kigali: Rwanda



Roko Construction won a contract to renovate and extend the former intercontinetal Hotel Kigali to Serena stardads. This is an effort to step up and widen their services in Rwanda.

This renovation project is estimated to take 12-month, among the key areas to be added will be an ultra modern new wing comprising a total of 44 guest rooms, 28 standard and 16 executive rooms, and a two-storey state of the art Maisha Spa facility complete with a contemporary swimming pool.

This is expected to increase the Hotel's guest capacity and offer a wider variety of health and beauty services to local and international guests. The refurbishment is to be done in three phases, involving all Serena Hotel facilities, Kigali Serena Hotel, Serena Lake Kivu and Kinigi.

The hotel is to remain open during the renovation period and measures will be put in place to ensure minimal interruptions to the guests.

Currently Kigali Serena Hotel has 104 air conditioned rooms that range from luxury suites to deluxe rooms and the number is set to increase to 148 after the refurbishment is complete.

Serena Hotels have purchased 27.6 hectares of land in the Kinigi area and their architects are currently finalizing designs for a luxury boutique. Full construction of the facility will begin early 2009.


The Managing Director of Serena Hotels, Mr. Mahmud Jan Mohamed, said the whether out for pure luxury or a swift revitalization, the Maisha Spa facility will offer soothing respite and inner serenity to guests with services ranging from signature massages to facials and hydrotherapy bodycare.

NSSF Project: ROKO Construction Ltd has won another great contract; to construct a modern commercial complex for NSSF (National Social Security Fund). The contract was signed on 1st April 2008 by the NSSF's Managing Director David Chandi on behalf of NSSF and ROKO's Managing Director Dragomir Lakic on behalf of ROKO. The complex will cover nearly 16 acres of land located at Lumumba Avenue, Nakasero opposite French Embassy. The project is estimated to cost 36 billion shillings and is likely to start this month and run for 16 months. It includes shopping rental space at the ground floor, parking space, restaurants, office space and suits.


Mapeera House : Roko Construction won the contract, among the selected leading construction firms in the country through a competitive bidding. The contract was signed on 5th September 2007 by Prof. John Ddumba-Ssentamu, Board Chairman of Centenary bank on behalf of the Bank and Mr. Rainer Koehler Chairman of Roko Construction.

In this remarks at the contract singing ceremony the Mr. Koehler thanked the Bank for the confidence placed in his firm and under took to construct the building for their usual high standards

The Bank’s new home, which will be called Mapeera House, will be on Plot 44-46 Kampala Road opposite the Constitutional Square. It will have eight floors. “Mapeera House will be spacious with modern Banking facilities that will ease congestion at Entebbe Road arising from our ever-growing loyal clientele and help us to offer a conducive Banking environment,” Ddumba said.

A contract for construction of the project was signed between the Bank’s board chairman, Prof. Ddumba Ssentamu, and Roko Construction Company’s chairman Rainer Koehler at Centenary

The project is expected to take 13 months and ROKO will take all possible measures to ensure that construction progresses smoothly so that the project is completed on schedule using the planned funds



Southern Sudan Government ministries’ offices

This project involved building and rehabilitation of the southern Sudan government ministries’ offices, was signed between the region’s acting minister for lands, housing and utilities, Rebbecca Demals, and ROKO’s chairman, Rainer Koehler, in Juba
